Variability of atmospheric depositions of artificial radiolements and their transfer into soils

چکیده
A researcher in society... Since the start of my thesis research (October 1993), my work has focused on the behaviour of artificial radioelements firstly in the geosphere and then in the biosphere. Research in these domains must directly or indirectly provide answers to very strong societal concerns relating to the consequences of artificial radioelements on man and the environment. The artificial radioelements produced by civil and military activities and discharged into the environment present indeed potential hazards due to the high radiotoxicity of the emitted substances. Harm to man by external irradiation, inhalation or ingestion, is conditioned by processes likely to increase or decrease the activity of a radioelement in the environment, from the source term (waste from nuclear plants, polluted sediments or soils, etc.). To understand the behaviour of artificial radioelements, many factors that can mobilize the radioelements must be taken into account, such as water/rock interactions, hydrological conditions, biogeochemical cycles, bioavailability in soils, etc.

Measurement of 137Cs in soils of Tehran province
Background: An amount of artificial radionuclide has been released into the environment as fallout, resulting from atmospheric nuclear weapon tests, nuclear accidents such as Chernobyl and together with air currents have polluted the world. Materials and Methods: 37 surface soil samples of Tehran province were collected in the period between June and September 2008, by implementing met...
متن کاملThe Effect of Spatial Variability and Anisotropy of Soils on Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations
Naturally occurred soil deposits inherit heterogeneity and anisotropy in their strength properties. The main purpose of this paper is to model the soil stratum with anisotropy consideration and spatially varying undrained shear strength by using random field theory coupled with finite difference numerical analysis to evaluate their effect on the bearing capacity of the shallow foundations. In t...
متن کاملInvestigation of the atmospheric circulation anomalies associated with extreme rainfall events over the Coastal West Africa
This study investigates the atmospheric circulation associated with extreme rainfall events over the coastal West Africa. The rainfall data of this study were obtained from the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC), spanning from 1981 to 2010. The atmospheric datasets were also obtained from the ERA-Interim reanalysis. The study employed the Z-Index to categorize dry and wet years into...
متن کاملMercury distribution across 14 U.S. Forests. Part I: spatial patterns of concentrations in biomass, litter, and soils.
Results from a systematic investigation of mercury (Hg) concentrations across 14 forest sites in the United States show highest concentrations in litter layers, strongly enriched in Hg compared to aboveground tissues and indicative of substantial postdepositional sorption of Hg. Soil Hg concentrations were lower than in litter, with highest concentrations in surface soils. Aboveground tissues s...
متن کاملRelationship between Atmospheric Water Vapor Transfer and Daily Rainfall in Iran
Introduction Because the occurrence of precipitation is directly related to the humidity in the atmosphere or precipitation systems, the study of humidity in the form of precipitable water and the transfer of water vapor is considered in atmospheric studies. Convergence Moisture flux is effective on precipitation, so its effect is much greater in the warmer months, especially in the lower at...
